This assignment was very fun but quite time consuming. I have estimated a total of 35 hours working on this animation, but in the end I have a finished product that I am proud of. Enjoy this quick animated fight scene by yours truly.
This assignment was really exciting as I have never really used photoshop before nor have I shaded forms before. Believe it or not I went to do this assignment on a day that the cage was closed, so I was unable to rent out a tablet and stylus. My peers and I went with it and did the entire assignment with just a mouse. Here are the steps I took. Above you can see my basic outlines of the figures. The arrows indicate the direction of light. Next I went through and did the basic process of shading using my five custom swatches. Later I go through once again bringing the opacity down to 50% to really get rid of those sharper blends. Finally I use a mixer brush to really blend the different swatches and make it a smoother transition from one to the other. On the right you can also see the different layers I used to keep this process efficient and organized. I have a background layer, a form layer, and a shading layer. Here we have the finished
Hello. My name is Michael Calandra and I am a first year Film student at the University of Tampa. I was born on August 29th, 2000 (yes, today is my birthday) in St. Petersburg, Florida. I first became interested in film when I bought my first iPad in 7th grade. I downloaded the app “iMovie” for a whopping five dollars and became instantly hooked. I would make videos for every single class assignment that I could think of as opposed to the traditional Powerpoint approach like everyone else. Then came high school. I finally grew out of iMovie and began to work on some more intensive programs such as Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro. My videos started to look more professional and complete and I realized that this would be something that I would love to do for the rest of my life.
